Ice Cream-with-a-sweater Season

We had the kind of September you dream about — warm sunshine, blue skies, and 80-degree days that made you forget fall was anywhere close. Then this week, boom… the first real frost hit.

It’s funny how fast it happens. One day we’re still in shorts and sandals, and the next we’re rummaging for our warmest coats and wool socks, standing in the barn wondering where we stashed our gloves last spring. The garden froze overnight, the flowers bowed their heads, and suddenly it’s time to clean up the yard and tuck summer away in the shed until next year.

It always catches me off guard, that shift. You know it’s coming — but it doesn’t quite feel real until you see the frost sparkling on the fence rails and your breath in the air. That’s when it hits: summer’s over, friends.

Now, you might think that means things slow down for us at the Scoop Shoppe. But nope — we’re dairy farmers first, and dairy farming doesn’t come with an off-season! Cows still need milking, milk still needs bottling, and there’s always work to do, no matter what the thermometer says. Around here, we just say there’s no bad weather — only bad clothing choices.

I saw that quote above the other day and it made me laugh — yes, that’s exactly it, I thought.

So while we’re layering up for those chilly mornings, we’re bringing a little cozy to the Scoop Shoppe too — as best as gelato can be.

Here’s what’s in the cabinet this weekend:

🎃 Spiced Pumpkin – Made with real pumpkin purée, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg — all the warm fall flavors you crave.

🍫 Classic Chocolate – Made with rich Dutch cocoa and nothing fancy, just how chocolate should be.

🍪 Cookie Butter – Biscoff cookie butter turned into a warm, spiced gelato that’s basically October in a cone.

And of course, our Crème Anglaise Vanilla Bean — simple, creamy, and always in the case because it’s just too good not to be.
