Hello, October.

"Instructions for living a life: Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it." - Mary Oliver
I've spent longer than usual pondering that quote and have been more inspired than I have in a while to start telling our story more. I think you get so used to the ordinary in your life that it's hard to see any interest in what you're living, you know? We have been pushing and grinding and building and falling and sweating and getting back up and wiping tears and pushing and grinding for almost seven years since our creamery started. After so many years, I kind of lost steam and excitement. But after stepping back (the baby has really helped me step away from constant marketing and social media presence for the farm, if you've noticed), I think I'm finally ready to pivot and find a way to share from here, though differently this time. I'm done shouting from the rooftops the value of "knowing your farmer" and "small farms, slow food is better", but rather: here's a glimpse of what it looks like to be a part of our farm, family and business. More simple posts on what I'm cooking and growing and how I'm decorating and the decisions we're making in the business and also, because I'm nosy and I love posts that share real data, some thoughts from the growth and lackluster months in the business. And what our financial goals are and what we're saving for and how we're trying to grow more revenue to help get there. You'll have to let me know if you're interested in these things from social media or if not: what do you want to see from us? Because I know it's taken months of rest from posting to get some excitement back, but I really think it's time we start telling about our lives again.
Speaking of our lives, you know we spend well over a usual work-week hours tending to the Scoop Shoppe, and I'm so excited for any locals home for Homecoming weekend to step foot inside! I've been curating a new Autumn inspired pantry with local soups, tallow chips (at a great price point!), restocked maple syrup/honey and small batch vinegars for the new season, pumpkin scents galore, more sourdough pretzels and lots of dried starter and bread baskets to get you started in sourdough, PA made beef jerky, fudge, gourmet caramel apples, a fresh batch of locally pressed apple cider and local NY apples! The shop is screaming FALL and I think you're going to love it as much as we do.
And join us for the Homecoming Parade Down Main Street Friday night before the big game against Brookville! The parade marches around 6:30pm right by the Scoop Shoppe and I know you'll love it as much as we do!
And we stocked some bananas fosters cakes (house made banana cake, banana caramel syrup, our own cream cheese buttercream) and Biscoff brownies to take home.
Plus: the scoop case looks good:
- Biscoff Cookie Butter
- Go Rovers! Red and Black Strawberry Oreo
- Bananas Foster
- Chocolate
- Coffee Chip
- Peanut Butter Buckeye
- Creme Anglaise Vanilla Bean
- Pumpkin

Links + finds from the week:
- A fun, fall take on the classic rice krispy treat.
- Just decorated my porch with this light-up jack-o-lantern and it's such a great price! Also comes in orange.
- Sports season is in full swing and I think I found the perfect coat (called a robe) for all-weather outdoor soccer viewing: waterproof, wool-lined, and long enough to cover my legs!
- I found some fall finds at Target that are making me so happy: this and this men's sweaters (for me!), and a perfect Autumn table runner and my favorite kitchen towels in the perfect plaid.
- Don't forget the elk rut in Benezette or a trip to the FireTower in Cook Forest for a spectacular Autumn view.
have the best weekend,
we hope to see you at The Scoop Shoppe!
xx,
Lisa
