Happy New Year

Happy New Year, friends.

I can hardly believe how quickly we buzzed through these past two weeks. Even with my constant reminders to slow down and take it all in—poof—it feels like Christmas came and went in a blink.

This morning, I’m still sipping my latte beside a fully decorated Christmas tree, the house humming with twinkle lights and evergreen branches. And honestly? I’m not quite ready to put it all behind us yet. Maybe it’s the feet of snow we’ve gotten this past week, or maybe it’s just the pace at which the season flew by—but I’m holding on a little longer.

Jesse has always loved celebrating the full 12 days of Christmas, so that gives us every excuse to keep our beautiful tree from Tuckaway Tree Farm standing tall for a few more days. And can I just say—this tree is insanely healthy. Farm-fresh really is best, friends. Always.

As we gently turn the page into a new year, we’re also opening the doors of The Scoop Shoppe today—Friday, 1/2 at 2pm—and continuing with our winter hours. We’d truly love your input here. What hours work best for you this time of year? What would you love to see more of? I read every response to these emails, and I’d be honored to hear what you’re hoping for from The Scoop Shoppe in 2026.

After the overwhelming response to our New Year’s Eve sauerkraut and our own all-beef hot dogs, we’ll absolutely be keeping local beef stocked—and continuing to bring in as much local food as possible. Like I shared on Facebook recently, it might seem a little funny to grab sauerkraut and hot dogs from your local gelato shop—but we’re farmers first.

That’s what makes this place so special to us.

Even many “homemade” ice cream makers come from a creative or culinary background. But here, our days begin before the sun rises, caring for a herd of Jersey cows—every single day, year-round—before anything else happens. That true farm-to-store perspective is what drives us and shapes everything we do. From the very beginning, this space on Main Street was meant to be a farm store first, not just an ice cream shop—an extension of our farm, right in town.

And it’s been so encouraging to see how warmly you’ve embraced that vision. Thank you for seeing it the way we do.

This weekend, we’re welcoming the new year with a really fun gelato lineup:

  • Teaberry, the classic PA wintermint flavor, is back

  • Peanut Butter Banana, a longtime fan favorite

  • Sea Salt Caramel, rich and comforting

  • Oatmeal Raisin Cookie, made with a fresh batch of my homemade cookies (my personal favorite)

  • Cranberry Orange, bright and fresh for a new beginning

  • Hot Cocoa Gelato, filled with mini marshmallows for the coziest treat

We’d love for you to stop by, enjoy some gelato, and browse all of our local, farm-fresh offerings as we ease into this new year together.
