Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween, friends! Whether you’re dressing up or staying cozy at home, I hope you’re finding a little joy in this last day of October — because, goodness, didn’t this month just fly by?
I’ll be honest, Halloween has never really been my holiday. Somewhere between the endless costume prep, the sugar overload, and the constant “can I have just one more?”—it can all feel like a lot. And with four kids, well… let’s just say the candy bowl doesn’t stand a chance.
But here’s the thing I’ve learned about parenting: sometimes you put aside your own exhaustion or mild dread of glitter and sugar highs so your kids can live in the magic of it all. The ghosts, the jack-o’-lanterns, the giggles echoing down the hallway — it’s worth it. Every time.
So I pull out the pumpkin buckets, light the candles, and try to let myself enjoy it through their eyes. And when they inevitably eat their body weight in chocolate tonight, I’ll take a deep breath and remind myself (thanks to an actual dietitian’s post I shared this week) — it’s okay to let them have the candy. It’s one night. They’ll survive the sugar crash, and so will I.
Because that’s what parenting is so often about, isn’t it? Letting go a little. Dying to ourselves in small, quiet ways so our kids can build memories that last. I want them to remember laughter and fun — not a mom fretting over wrappers on the floor.
And speaking of a little fun and indulgence… we’ve been creating some Halloween magic for the grown-ups, too!
This weekend at the Scoop Shoppe, our fan-favorite “Trick or Treat” gelato is back — and we’ve added a brand-new flavor: Peanut Butter Trick or Treat! It’s packed with all your favorite candies (think Butterfinger, Kit Kat, and Reese’s Cups), and it’s just the right kind of sweet nostalgia that lets us all feel like kids again.
We’re also scooping up a few other fall favorites — Banana Bar with Pralined Walnuts, Honey-Cinnamon, Mint Chip, and our ever-classic Crème Anglaise Vanilla Bean. Whether you’re five or fifty, there’s something for you in the case this weekend.
So stop by, grab a scoop (or two), and share a little sweetness with the people you love.
Here’s to happy kids, tired parents, and one more night of October magic.

Links + finds from the week:
- On this weekend's menu: pumpkin soup! It feels right!
- Why you should let your kids eat all the candy they want on Halloween.
- The parchment sheets that save me so much time and cleanup in the kitchen. I'll never use a roll of parchment again.
- 40 of the coziest movie homes: I can't help but vote for The Family Stone- a little cluttered, but filled with pattern and texture and so much coziness. Feels just like my own!
- The best costumes yet.
Happy Halloween, friends. 👻🍂
