Welcome, Friday and a warm front! From a chilling 18degree morning yesterday to a high of 70 tomorrow, we're all living up the chaos of spring in Pennsylvania. Between winter gear and summer gear, we're never sure what to wear or have on hand these days. But honestly, even if we get a few warm days in the mix, we're all just glad to make it outside and feel the sunshine. After this past week, it looks the forecast is promising. And just in time for our biggest venture: our very own scoop shoppe is coming! I've been holding onto this idea since our first pint of gelato in 2021, but I was hoping to build the perfect shop at our farm. Since life happens and money doesn't grow on trees, we tucked this idea away last year. But then we came across a cute little spot to rent on Main Street in Brockway, and things just felt right. You know how that works sometimes? I'd honestly almost given up on the idea, but Jesse grabbed me during a hair appointment this winter and had me check out a rental space that immediately felt right. So we talked out some details and started construction on what is soon to be our very own scoop shoppe! And I can't wait to share it with you guys. Stay tuned, because we're opening this April (formal dates TBA). And I'm so excited I can barely stand it! Scoops of our fresh gelato in homemade waffle cones with ever-changing flavors in an easy-going, lighthearted and fun little shoppe right in the heart of our favorite town in the whole world: Brockway. It's going to be so fun, you guys.
But for now, we're just over here hand-packing pints of the best gelato we can make, and this week is all about SPRING! And when I think of spring, I can't stop thinking of lemon. So here we go, with lemon two ways. First up: lemon pound cake. A cream cheese gelato base filled with pieces of scratch-made lemon pound cake and a real lemon juice glaze for a cream cheese buttercream/lemon cake combination that is tart and sweet and so good. And the next lemon variety brings in the unique yet lovely flavor of lavendar! We're swirling a fresh blueberry lavendar jam through our gelato base with generous pieces of lemon cake to finish it. It's sweet and tart and complex, but best of all: it tastes like spring! All things lemon are happening this weekend at the farm shoppe.
