Happy Friday

Happy Friday! What a beautiful week here in Pennsylvania, how about it? Sunny skies and warm winds and the smell of spring everywhere. We're still seeing a few patches of snow in places, so I'm always reminded that while there's snow on the ground it can still snow, we are all loving this Spring weather. Our kids have started spring sports this week, too, which always brings a bit of excitement (and lots of chaos) to our farm lives, but we're just all so glad for the change in seasons.
This week, I met up with some online creamery friends for a quick day trip and it was such a breath of fresh air. I know we've all read about the importance of community, but to sit at a table with a group of women who are living your exact challenges and who can truly understand the day-to-day struggle and joy of direct to consumer farming was the most fulfilling experience. I haven't had a chance to really reflect as of yet, but I'll definitely share more here about it. There are only a few women who gain value in chatting labels, bottles and farm stores. And we all soaked it in. I think that's why I'm bringing this up here, just to remind you that your people are out there. I know I feel like I'm alone on an island and our business doesn't allow for extra time to make friends, but if you look, you can find your people. So that's a good lesson I'm trying to teach my kids: it's okay if you feel left-out and lonely sometimes, your people are out there- you just have to find them.
Let's pivot to this week's gelato: wildly different yet both seriously delicious. First up, we're celebrating maple syrup season with a Maple Walnut gelato. Made only with real maple syrup, this subtly maple gelato base is loaded with toasted walnuts for a sweet and nutty flavor profile I think you'll love. No artificial maple flavor here, just real, locally sourced maple syrup!
Our second gelato is a coconut dream. Cream of coconut is stirred into our gelato base, then frozen and filled with chocolate chips, salty caramel sauce and a generous scoop of toasted coconut flakes for a chocolate caramel coconut gelato I think you'll all love. It's a nod to warmer weather, and it tastes so good right now.
Our little farm shoppe carries on, and we can't tell you how grateful we are to each and every one of you that show up here. You guys mean the world to us!
Farm Shoppe Hours:
Saturday 10am until 2pm
Sunday 1pm until 3pm
This week's links + finds:
- Magnolia Kitchen's oatmeal cream pies are the most delicious thing I've made.
-
I loved this take on what to cook for a meal train. When someone you know is grieving or newly postpartum, there is nothing more loving than a warm meal.
- I love Sarah Young's books and devotionals, and this one is perfect for teaching kids about the season of Lent and Easter.
- This is on Monday's meal plan! I've made the Marry Me Crockpot chicken, too and it's delicious. I'm not sure how it got it's name, but I'l be honest, I never read the whole blog and rather skip to the recipe (doesn't everyone?)
- This made me laugh. And while yes, egg prices are so high right now, I'm excited that some local egg farmers found us- we have the freshest local eggs in our farm shoppe for $6!
Have the best weekend,
Lisa
