We're reveling in the rich green of the season over here, how about it? It's officially berry season in our yard, too, so we spend our free time snacking at the blueberry bushes and digging through the garden beds in search of the next ripe snack.  Jesse was just telling the kids that summer in the Allegheny Mountains is wonderful. In the days before air conditioning, people would venture out of the cities to summer in the Allegheny Mountains—a chance to soak in the spring-fed icy streams and rivers and feel the cool breezes on hot summer days. That perspective always helps me appreciate these short months of PA summers because it really is glorious here! 

Summer months are also the most rewarding for gelato makers, especially since opening the Scoop Shoppe. We've loved watching groups gather outside on the hot days with a drippy frozen gelato. This whole experience has been so overwhelming, in the best way. We can't wait to bring you more summer-loving gelato flavors this weekend.

• Peanut Butter Butterfinger: it took me too long to create this amazing combo: rich peanut butter gelato, a caramel swirl and Butterfinger candy pieces.
• Wildberry lavender: the taste of summer. Wild blueberries (smaller and slightly more tart than the traditional ones), raspberries and blackberries with a hint of lavender from dried lavender buds.
• Root Beer: an extract with real sasparilla root, cloves and molasses: its old-fashioned root beer, nothing like the syrupy sodas at the store!
• White Mint Chip: our vanilla mint with chocolate flakes: the coolest summer flavor.
• Cookies and cream: Oreo fans, unite! Oreo cookies in our white chocolate gelato base.
• Creme anglaise: always available, a classic vanilla bean.

We'll be scooping these flavors all weekend at our Scoop Shoppe on Main St in Brockway!
