Happy Friday!

"Bittersweet October. The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, perfect pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter." —Carol Bishop Hipps

It must be the end of October, because the temperatures have taken a dramatic dip, the rains have shaken loose most of the leaves, and there’s just that unmistakable shift in the air. We’ve had a few good frosts now, and the forecast doesn’t look like it’ll be leaving the 50s anytime soon. The Halloween costumes are ready, the pumpkins on the porch are softening around the edges, and the evenings are feeling slower and softer.

We’ve been spoiled by such a beautiful autumn that I almost forgot how quickly it turns to true fall—those chilly mornings, brisk winds, and early sunsets that make you reach for the coziest blanket you can find. Our Rover football team played their last regular season game last night, and while we fully intended to go, the rain and cold kept us home—listening on the radio instead. I can’t say I minded one bit. There’s something special about a rainy October night at home: a big pot of chicken and dumplings bubbling on the stove, fresh cookies in the oven, and mugs of warm cider in our hands.

And just as I was settling into my mini pity party about the colder, darker days ahead, I saw someone post “Welcome, Holiday Season!” this week—and it stopped me in my tracks. Could it really be? We’re just a week from November, and the holidays are truly peeking around the corner! So instead of mourning the end of warm, sunny days, I’m choosing to welcome the season ahead—with hot meals, warm drinks, twinkle lights, and all the cozy gatherings that make it so special.

Here at the Scoop Shoppe, we’re embracing the change, too. We’ve added outdoor heaters so you can enjoy your favorite gelato all year long. There’s just something about sitting outside on Main Street, bundled up under the glow of a heat lamp, with a scoop of something sweet in hand—it feels like a little celebration of the simple things.

This week’s flavors are full of Halloween fun—think Trick or Treat, Apple Crumb Cake, and Pumpkin Spice Latte. It’s a lineup that feels like October in a scoop!

So swing by, take a seat, and let’s welcome the season together—one cozy, candy-filled spoonful at a time. We're open our Autumn Hours:
