"If the path you're on is clear, you're probably on someone else's."

In a world that seems to run on comparison, I can't stop thinking about that quote above.
That one stopped me.
Jesse and I have had our heads down for the last five years—building, growing, and trying to figure out how to make a small dairy farm actually work. It’s been a wild mix of fun and frustration. For every exciting moment, there's been one that’s exhausting, confusing, or downright defeating.
We’ve had our kids with us through it all—milking cows, mucking stalls, going on feed runs—and so naturally, we ask ourselves all the Big Questions.
Are we raising them the right way?
Are we living the right way?
Are we managing our time and money right?
Are we teaching them what matters most?
Will they want to come back and be around us when they’re grown?
And if I’m honest, most of those questions come from comparing. Because our life doesn’t look like many others'. We’ve prayed our way through every decision, and deep down we do believe we’re where we’re supposed to be. Still… it’s hard.
Our path doesn’t have built-in vacations. We don’t have weekends off. The house is messier than I imagined it would be at this age. We’re late more often than I’d like to admit. And some days, we wonder—Is this really worth it?
But then—boom—there’s that quote again.
"If the path you're on is clear, you're probably on someone else's."
And suddenly, all the mess and uncertainty feels a little more… right.
Because if there’s one thing I am sure of, it’s that this path is uniquely ours. It doesn’t look like anything we pictured five years ago—and we’re still curious (okay, slightly anxious) about where it’s leading. But we know it’s honest. It’s meaningful. It’s ours. And I think—I hope—it’s the kind of life our kids will look back on and say, “Yeah, that was worth it."
Anyway, while we're keeping our heads afloat over here (literally, since the Brockway Pool is our new favorite spot!), we've got quite a gelato lineup for you this weekend at the Scoop Shoppe!
- toasted coconut! Real coconut cream and toasted coconut flakes: it's summer in a gelato
- dark chocolate: it's the chocolate gelato of my dreams. Rich, chocolately with a hint of sea salt and espresso powder to enhance the richness. It's the most satisfying chocolate, I tell ya!
- peaches and cream: you guys have been asking for it! Real peach puree swirled through a creamy gelato, and to go with it:
- cookie butter: Biscoff cookies and cookie butter! Next to a scoop of peaches-and-cream, it's like a peach cobbler!
- creme anglaise: a classic vanilla bean
And remember, our summer hours are HERE!
And links + finds from the week:
- Ways to make life more whimsical. Like the author notes, some are so simple but I loved the reminders!
- My orders said I've purchased this probiotic 24 times! I've suffered with gastritis for years (too much coffee? dairy? chocolate? likely!) and when I run out of this probiotic, I can instantly tell. It keeps any symptoms of pain/burning or heartburn completely controlled: just one little pearl. I'm amazed at how well it works and I think if you need Tums/Pepcid or Nexium frequently, you'll appreciate this little probiotic!
- Looks like a great summer dinner!
- I love the How I Built This podcast, and this episode with Mrs. Meyers was great.
- My friend, Dusti, has fresh local strawberries at her cute little bake shop in Clearfield!
Have the best weekend,
we're so glad you're here!

Your comment on a messy house reminded me of a relative who was strict about a perfect home, perfect manners, etc. to the point relatives rarely visited. On her death bed, her last words were, “I wish I hadn’t been so fussy.” Enjoy your messy house, I bet it’s a fun place to be!
I enjoy your blogs along with the gelato and other goodies. Love that you’re shining a light on how beautiful and real rural life is.♥️
I look forward to your weekly blog.
It makes my day.
Weirdly I quit receiving them. 😩
So I’m signing back up. 🥰
Much love
You are ALWAYS an inspiration! Thank you for persevering!
