Happy Friday!
"The farmer has to be an optimist or he wouldn’t still be a farmer."
Will Rogers
We're so excited to finally let the cat out of the bag about our new little scoop shoppe in town! You guys have been so supportive from the very beginning of our dairy, so we're so glad to bring this little shop to life for you! In fact, this photo above was taken in the spring of 2020, just a few months after we starting milk our first cow, Buttercup. Back then, this was just a hobby with two cows. We had a single bucket milker and less than ten gallons of milk each day. Though we had no idea where it would go, Jesse wanted to find a way to farm with low risk- on a small scale, with no debt and selling directly from our farm. It turns out, you guys were ready to support us when we weren't sure! We're truly so grateful for this space, this farm, this business. And we're so proud to see our milk, yogurt and gelato in your refrigerators.
I think that's why we're so excited about this next step: because we're going to be able to reach you even more with more hours and an easy in-town location. And with gelato by-the-scoop, it's a quick stop even in your busiest seasons. But The Scoop Shoppe will also house our milk, gelato and beef, too. It's relocating our little farm shoppe to make things more convenient and give us a chance to extend our hours, too! I think this is going to be so much fun. Stay tuned, I don't have an exact opening date yet, but it will be in April (fingers crossed) and I'll let you know as soon as I do!
Onto the new gelato for the week: it's chocolate chip cookie dough, but elevated with PEANUT BUTTER! I hear from so many of you asking repeatedly for all things peanut butter, so I'm excited to bring you this insanely delicious variety. We made a homemade edible peanut-butter cookie dough and studded it with lots of mini chocolate chips. We then added it, along with handfuls of Reese cup pieces, to a brown sugar scented gelato base. It's a flavor combination out-of-this-world and I can't wait for you to try it!
Farm Shoppe Hours
Saturday 10am to 2pm
Sunday 1pm to 3pm
This week's links + finds:
- Pittsburgh has a new kayak rental hub right in the heart of the city! We're putting this on our summer bucket list.
- After reading the benefits of cooking with beef tallow (rendered beef fat), I am so excited to source it for our farm shoppe! Available this weekend.
- Adding this to our "to-bake" list immediately (but subbing butter in place of shortening, always).
- Brockway Boyscouts are having a pancake dinner this weekend!
- This was so relatable: we've got quite the age gap between kids which means we have some feral littles running around during Molly's games...
Have the best weekend,
Lisa
