Happy 250th, America!
"There’s something profoundly good about being in America, and being American."- Dr. Dixie Dillon Lane

Happy 4th of July and a most happy 250th birthday to America! Every year at Christmastime, my kids openly announce "this is my favorite holiday- well, except for the 4th of July"! In our little town of Brockway, we do the 4th of July in the biggest, best ways. From a day starting with Fireman donuts to a 5k and 10k race, a bicycle rice, live music, food vendors, TONS of kids games and facepainting, friends in from out of town and so much good food. But then we top the day off with a class small town parade and the most exciting, beautiful fireworks. It's truly one of the most exciting days for me and also for our kids. We all LOVE the 4th of July in Brockway and today feels (nearly) like Christmas Eve. (I should digress for a moment to mourn for our sweet dog, Shiloh, who hates this week terribly.)
The Scoop Shoppe has been a celebration all week, too, with an extra day on Wednesday and a bunch of fun new treats this week, including a return of our fudgy brownies and DOT CAKES! We took a viral trend and made it ours with naturally-dyed sprinkles and our gelato topping house-made vanilla cake. We'll be closed on Saturday, July 4 (as you just read, we have lots of things to do!), but we're here the rest of the week with a scoop case bursting with summer flavor and USA celebration!
Our flavors this week include:
- strawberry pretzel
- blueberry peach matcha
- America's birthday cake
- Rocky Road
- Sea Salt caramel
- Butter Pecan
- Parent Trap (peanut butter Oreo, of course!)
- Vanilla bean

We hope you get a chance to celebrate this giant birthday celebration with us!
Links + finds from this week:
- Loved this tale on American's love of country.
- A cute, inexpensive way to add a vintage touch to our girls room.
- I've been making up extra batches of our favorite fudge brownies for the Scoop Shoppe lately and they're getting rave reviews: this is my go-to recipe. And this frosting takes them over the top (always use butter)!
- My favorite picnic salad.
- They froze their crocs?
Happy 4th weekend, friends!
We hope you have the best time :)
xx,
Lisa
