Farewell, May!

The end of a school year always feels to fly by, but I can't believe May is already over this weekend! We're all settling nicely into slow mornings and Little League around here, but the anticipation of trips to the pool and local river, amusement parks and picnics has been building around here. Each summer, we make a simple Summer Bucket List- nothing big or extravagant, but rooted in our current season at home. For example, last summer we had a little baby who traveled easily and this summer she's a wild toddler whose nap takes priority in our days. So we're realistic with what we can do- pool days? Yes! Solo parent trips to bigger waterparks? Probably not. And since we're in the thick of Little League for two of our kids and run a dairy farm, we know day-trips are just our thing. Our bucket list even includes really simple things like "make s'mores" and "go to a Parade" (which we'll never miss at our town's July 4 celebration) to make the list more manageable. I think you all should make one, it's so fun to see what all you've done at summer winds down. My kids look forward to every little thing on our list.
And speaking of bucket list, we're already crossing things off our farm bucket list at rapid speed! Staining and cleaning, reorganizing and restocking, new flavors and product ideas are coming to life. We're so excited to extend our Scoop Shoppe hours for summer to TEN PM (I still can't believe how many of you are night owls) to create a safe, fun spot to hang out as the days are longer and warmer. This little shop has been such a learning experience but something we're so proud to bring to Brockway. We hope you get a chance to swing by, too!
This week, our flavors are so fun:
- Strawberry lemon cake (lemon gelato, lemon cake, strawberry puree swirl)
- Cookies and cream (white chocolate gelato with crushed Oreos)
- Pistachio Chocolate (pistachio butter swirl, chocolate flakes, pistachio pieces)
- Peanut Butter No-Bake-Cookie (made with gluten free oats!) ( peanut butter gelato with our own no-bake cookies broken throughout)
- Teaberry (the classic PA flavor of spearmint)
- Milk Chocolate Gem (naturally dyed chocolate candies throughout our milk chocolate gelato)
- Vanilla bean (our classic creme anglaise base)

Links + finds from the week:
- Learn to love the Moat of Low Status. This read describes exactly how I feel each time we try something new- because it's human nature to feel behind and weak when you start anything new, especially as an adult. But by embracing the low status, you dismiss the shame and push past: all good things start somewhere.
- Our strawberry milk is back!
- Our newest tree swing is a HIT! Its 4ft wide and safe for even our toddler but all the kids are loving it.
- It's grilling season, and this week: I'm grilling a whole chicken!
- If you're looking for a fun, easy day outdoors: head to Cook Forest!
Have the best weekend, we can't wait to see you on Main St in Brockway!
xx,
Lisa
