Farewell, January!

Happy (okay, maybe a little late) weekend, friends! I don’t know about you, but that hint of sunshine yesterday felt downright life-giving. Sure, we didn’t exactly climb out of the teens temperature-wise, but feeling the sun on my face? I’ll take it. Even the baby was insistent that we go outside—like, “Mom, we’re wasting precious sunshine here.”
And listen… the forecast is showing TWENTIES next week. Balmy. Practically tropical. 😉
All that sunshine felt extra sweet because we’ve got something big to celebrate around here: our mini-renovation at the Scoop Shoppe is officially done. The partial wall is down, the space is opened up, and just like that we’ve got more room, more seating, and—let’s be honest—more places for little ones to roam while you enjoy some farm-fresh dairy. We’re still waiting on a few pieces of furniture and some décor to make it all feel finished, but opening up the space already feels so good. It means more of you can come in, sit a while, and linger.
And because it’s currently negative fourteen as I type this (why do we live where the air hurts?), we’re adding a premium hot chocolate to the menu this weekend. Because obviously. We’re ready for you—freezing temps and all.
We’ve also stocked the shoppe with some fun new things to help you warm up and spread a little love. There’s a flavorful bone broth—perfect for cozy sipping—with 10 grams of protein and only 60 calories. We’ve got a new naturally dyed candy selection just in time for Valentine’s Day, dark chocolate-covered cherries that are truly to-die-for, Buckeyes, sea salt milk chocolate caramels, and more small-batch chocolates you absolutely shouldn’t miss. And yes, warm drinks are here too, so really, there’s no better excuse to swing by Main Street in Brockway.
Yesterday someone thanked us for bringing business to Brockway, and I had to pause for a moment. Because the truth is—we had doubts. We’re a really small town, and we sell a low-ticket item (hello, $6 ice cream cone). Add in rent, utilities, staffing, inventory… all the expensive things… and you can imagine the fear that came with opening our little Scoop Shoppe right here.
But when you show up—even if it’s just for milk or yogurt, a scoop of gelato, a gift for someone you love, or choosing our candy over the Dollar Store for your Valentine—it makes it all worth it. Truly. We are so grateful for those of you who come back again and again. We hope to be here for years to come, and that only happens because you keep showing up. We’re overwhelmed with gratitude and so proud to be a Main Street Brockway business.
Okay—enough of the sappy stuff. Let’s get to the good part: new gelato.
Thanks to an idea from our farm helper, Derrick, we whipped up a Boston Cream Pie gelato, and friends… it’s already a hit. Creamy vanilla gelato, chunks of house-made vanilla pound cake, a fudge swirl, and chocolate flakes. Worth the trip. I promise.
We also made another fresh batch of strawberry gelato—bright, fruity, and perfect for Valentine’s month. Our dark chocolate is back too: rich, made with fair-trade cocoa, and especially lovely next to a scoop of strawberry. This week I also couldn’t stop thinking about my favorite golden milk drink during flu season, so I turned it into gelato: turmeric chai. It’s bright, warmly spiced, anti-inflammatory, and so delicious.
Of course, peanut butter Butterfinger is back (because it has to be), along with sea salt caramel and our crème anglaise classic vanilla bean.

- The ice skating rink at Parker Dam is OPEN! But if you're not available this weekend, it's open next weekend I'm sure and Snowman in the Forest is coming to Cook Forest soon!
- Shepherds pie sounds perfect for Sunday dinner.
- Win a weekend at The Gateway Lodge in Cook Forest!
- Our house has been infiltrated with winter illness and I credit this supplement and this for keeping me healthy!
- The zoo polar bear seems so pleased with these temps.
The case is waiting for you, friends. Come see the new look, grab something warm, and stay awhile this weekend—we’d love to see you. 💛
xx,
Lisa
