Farewell, August.

"You better get to livin', givin', don't forget to throw in a little forgivin' and lovin' on the way..."
- Dolly Parton
PHEW, August. That was a quick one! I've found myself in a funk this week, and while I'm quick to blame the weather (it feels like we're living under a dark, rainy cloud here in Brockway), I know I'm in a guilt trap. Did we do enough this summer? Are we prepared for a new school year? Why is the shop so slow this month and are we actually going to make it in a small town? Will we be able to find the help we need? Is it seriously time for pumpkin ALREADY?! So many things to think and worry about, all the time. I needed the slap of my morning devotion which reminded me that worrying is of the broken world, not for productivity or peace. And I took a few deep breaths and asked for God's control of my thoughts, to help protect my peace. In case you're feeling the weight of comparison or overwhelm or guilt: take a step back with me. We're all in need of protecting our peace, so sometimes we need to stop looking at everyone else, stop reviewing the daily numbers, stop the trap. Take a few minutes of quiet and protect your peace in these chaotic times. It's worth it. And while you're at it, pay a tribute to Dolly by planing "Better Get To Livin".
Since we're talking about the transition of summer break chaos, let's talk about our change in hours at the Scoop Shoppe! Late summer/Autumn hours are here, and we'll be closing at 9pm each night, and open at noon ONLY ON SATURDAY: Sunday's are 2pm until 9pm.
It's a back-to-school theme in the scoop case this week, too with FREE CONES FOR OUR TEACHERS:
- PB + J (peanut butter gelato and fresh strawberry puree swirl)
- Coffee + Chip
- Raspberry Matcha
- Candy Bar (Oreos, Butterfinger, chocolate covered pretzels, a caramel swirl and mini peanut butter cups)
- Milk Chocolate
- Cinnamon Roll
- Peach
- Vanilla creme angalise

And don't forget the start of Rover football! The first game is tonight in Keystone, and we're all so excited to watch our team take the field for the season!
