A Christmas Gathering in Brockway

Happy almost-Holiday Season, friends.
There’s a certain magic in the air this time of year—not quite Christmas, not quite the quiet winter months either. It’s that soft, in-between glow where Main Street feels like it’s waking up from the long year, stringing lights, tying ribbons, and getting ready to welcome everyone “home” again.

Around here, that means one thing: A Christmas Gathering is back.
This weekend and next, our little town will open its doors to showcase what I truly believe is the heartbeat of any community—its makers, its dreamers, its families pouring their time, talent, and hope into small businesses.

And maybe you’ve seen that post floating around Instagram lately—the one that says:

“If every adult moved just one $40 big-box purchase to a small business, over $10 billion would shift into local communities.”

I read that twice. Then a third time.
Because it’s not just a number. It’s a reminder of what’s possible when we choose each other.

Forty dollars.

A candle.
A handmade mug and our own hot chocolate mix.
A raw, local honey giftset.
A half-gallon of farm-fresh milk or a festive pint of gelato.

It’s small shifts that make main streets feel alive. It’s those tiny decisions—those I’ll shop local this time moments—that keep storefronts filled, ballfields funded, classroom wish lists supplied, and small farms (like ours) able to keep doing what we love.

As a hardworking little microdairy and Main Street business, it means everything to us.
In the Scoop Shoppe, we’ve spent the last few weeks filling shelves with the things we love most: our own farm-made milk, yogurt, gelato, eggnog, and a curated collection of small-batch and handmade gifts that we use and adore in our own home. Gifts under $40 for just about anyone on your list.

But it’s not just about shopping.
It’s about showing up.
For your neighbors.
For the parents running from chores to school drop-offs to late-night packaging.
For the makers dreaming big in tiny workshops.
For the future of the very place we all call home.

So if you're strolling through town this weekend or next, we’d love for you to stop in—warm up, say hi, taste something delicious, tuck a few local gifts away for the season ahead, and help us celebrate the start of the holidays together.

Here’s to small towns, small businesses, and the big impact of showing up for one another.
We can’t wait to see you.
